The Houston Texans have already come to Gillette Stadium this season. They were thrashed 42-14 in Week 14, but get a 2nd chance here, in the game that truly matters. The Texans got past Cincinnati 19-13 last week, and now must face a very well rested Patriots team that boasts the most dangerous offence in the NFL.

The spread is a massive 10 points now, which looks huge when you consider the double digit road dog won outright yesterday, when Baltimore won at Denver. But, I can't stress enough the sheer ruthlessness that is the New England Patriots. They aren't satisfied with running you over. They'll back up and do it again. And then again.

I'm not sure if Houston know how to stop Brady, who in 2 home starts against Houston has thrown 6 TD passes without interception with a passer rating of 119! His passes to Aaron Hernandez absolutely destroyed Houston as he caught 8 passes including 2 for scores. If New England win this match, and make no mistake, they will, Brady will have 17 playoff wins, more than any other QB in history. He is currently tied on 16 with Montana.

Of course, it's not all about the Patriots offence, which it is clear can and will score on Houston's defence. But what about the Houston attack? They can't seem to get into the end zone, and have been terrible down the final games of the regular season.

Remember, the Patriots were 45-7 up in that earlier meeting, and only then backed off to allow the Texans another 7 points. The defence kept a team averaging close to 30 points to just 14, and could have done better.

BETTING VERDICT

Houston will be hoping they can pull the upset the Jets pulled here in the playoffs 2 years ago having been thrashed in the regular season. I think that is something the Patriots will have thought of too and Belichick will have taken the necessary steps to protect against that.

The spread is high, but I really do fancy New England to maul Houston once again, running it up late on, leaving no chance of any late nonsense.
