The Miami Dolphins travel west to Reliant Stadium in Houston to take on the Texans. Getting 12.5 points on the spread, they are the days biggest underdogs. I don't give them a chance against what should be a crushing Houston defence.
Remember, Houston could have done a lot better last season had they not lost QB Matt Schaub to injury. He's fit and back under centre again, and add to that a very good running game, led by Foster and Tate, they should have no trouble moving the ball either aerially or down on the ground. And then there is that defence.
That hard hitting defence should have a field day at home against a rookie QB, Ryan Tannehill. His preseason form was not impressive at all, managing less than 5 yards per pass. Miami will surely make mainly running plays in this game, and sadly they are unlikely to find much success as the Houston ground defence is also more than capable.
Last year the Houston Texans were 4th best when defending the rush, giving up on average just 96 yards per game! They were also 3rd best defending the pass, allowing on average just 189.7 yards! Tannehill's got no chance as his side had a -6 turnover margin, while Houston were +7.
Like I said, Schaub will marshall things excellently through the air, while the rush that ranked 2nd last year with 153 yards per game will offer the balance to tear through the Dolphins D, giving them a long afternoon.
BETTING VERDICT
Houston are 6-0 when facing Miami. Expect more of the same.
