PREVIEW
St. Louis will come to Seattle to play some MNF in what can only be described as an awful spot. The Rams are scoring the least points in the NFL, yep even less than the winless Colts, and have the worst rushing attack. The passing game is now in serious trouble too, with QB Sam Bradford unlilkely and his backup AJ Feeley out as well.
Tom Brandstater will likely get his first ever start as QB in the NFL as St. Louis try to halt their 3 game losing streak. Last week they managed just 157 yards of total offence against the San Francisco 49ers, and failed to put up a single point.
Seattle will be looking to improve their 5-7 mark with a win here, over a team whose number they have well and truly owned recently. Seattle has won 12 of the last 13 meetings with St. Louis, including 6 straight on their own patch. They've also outscored them 114-25 in the last 4 meetings when playing at home. Not a good omen against a team struggling to score points and as banged up as can be.
Seattle have done well against other teams too, winning 3 of their last 4 contests. Their recent run has seen them thump the Rams in St. Louis 24-7, so I don't understand why the spread isn't closer to 14, considering Bradfords absence. Seattle also gained a very impressive 31-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles less than a fortnight ago.
Seattle have benefitted hugely from the play of RB Marshawn Lynch, who has rushed for over 100 yards in 4 of Seattles last 5 games, which means he brings terrific form into this to do the same to St. Louis. Lynch ran for a season best 148 yards and 2 TDs against the Eagles, so imagine what he does here at home to the Rams with the world watching?
Seattle QB Tarvaris Jackson missed just 3 of his 16 passes against the Eagles, throwing for 190 yards and a TD and avoiding any picks. His defence managed to intercept Vince Young 4 times in that win, so will have a field day with the inexperienced Brandstater.
BETTING VERDICT
I will point out here there is a chance we will see a little bit of Bradford, because he did practice on Saturday. A full game from him looks unlikely, and of course, you can be sure he will be ineffective even if he does throw the bulk of the passes as he is not recovered.
Seattle shone the last time they played on National TV. They do so again here. The defence will stifle the life out of the banged up Rams and Lynch will run for well over 100 yards in what should be a rout. Take the Seeahawks to cover the spread.
