The New York Giants lost their season opener but enter this game with a 3-1 mark, thanks to their second 4th quarter comeback in a row. Last Sunday, the Giants trailed the Arizona Cardinals by 10 points late on but Eli Manning threw 2 TDs in just over 3 and a half minutes to give them the 31-27 win.
The week before they came back from 2 points down to down Philadelphia. Clutch. Seattle won't pose any such threat, and I doubt there will be a need for late heroics here as the Giants should be well in front by then.
The recent matches between these 2 have not been close affair. In fact, they've been whitewashes. New York won the last game 41-7 and won the previous affair by the same 36 point margin. The spread today is set at 9.5, which may seem large given the way the Giants have needed comebacks to win their last few. It is not. New York are at home, and Seattle are on the road. Thats a big deal. Why? Because the last time Seattle travelled to the Eastern Coast and won a match was....December 2007!!
The Seahawks haven't actually won on the road since November 2010. A West Coast team ravelling to the East Coast is hard enough, but to play an early game? That's rough. The defence is going to have it's hands full with Manning, who seems to be able to find ways to get his team the win, no matter how deep the hole they're in. Thats one of the marks of a strong team.
In 4 games now, Seattle have only 2 interceptions and that means they are not likely to pressure Manning enough here. In his last 2 meetings with the Seahawks, Manning has gone 40 of 57 for 557 yards and 5 TDs, with no interception. With the amount of receivers he has to work with, this will be one sided.
BETTING VERDICT
Seattle may have been able to score a few points against the Falcons but that is because Atlanta had a slump before they came back to win, and also because they don't boast the best pass rush anyway. New York will know how to stifle Seattle, and Manning will do the rest.
New York may well be up by 10 at HT alone. By FT, they'll be out of sight. Take the Giants.
