PREVIEW
If Tennessee can find a way to win away from home this Sunday, something they have not done in 11 months, they will have their best 4 game start in 3 years. Cleveland are also 2-1 after bouncing back from a season opening loss. Colt McCoy led his team to a win over Miami last week, and will need to be at his very best to get his team past a Titans side that will be their biggest test so far.
Tennessee have dominated their opponents so far, outgaining them by loads. While the Titans gain 346 yards per game, they restrict opponents to just 261 yards. Per play they gain 6 yards as opposed to their opponents, who get about 4.2, so immediately you know the defence has been firing! Stats show that defence do not give up more than 5 yards per play.
On the other hand, QB Matt Hasslebeck has been averaging 7.8 yards per passing play, while the team have a bona fide threat in star RB Chris Johnson. Johnson has only managed 33 yards per game rushing, and if you know how good he is, you know he's about to break out and help maul someone. The line is as it is because of the injury to star receiver Kenny Britt, who sadly tore his MCL and ACL against Denver last week. Without him, Hasselbeck is not going to be able to be as effective but I think Nate Washington is being underestimated.
While Kenny Britt has 26 receptions for 289 yards, Nate Washington has 27 receptions for 258 yards. Not that far behind, and I feel he can do a job here. Yes the offence suffers, but enough to be underdogs to Cleveland? I don't think so.
Cleveland are averaging just 4.5 yards per play and allowing closer to 5 yards per play, and they have played Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Miami. That's not as hard a shcedule as Tennessee have faced.
They have Colt McCoy throwing the ball, sure. But look what Tennessee defence did to the teams they faced. Denver managed just 14 points against them and lost 17-14. Before that, the Baltimore Ravens could only manage 13, and went down 26-13!
BETTING VERDICT
The line has moved from a pick to Tennessee +1 and this makes no sense to me as I have the Titans as likely winners. With the points this looks like a simple decision.
