2010-07-07 - Germany vs Spain
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:The second semifinal sees Germany coming up against Spain and this is the mouth watering clash we have all been waiting for when they square up at the Durban Stadium today.
This will be the repeat of the Euro 2008 and first and foremost will be on the Germans minds will be revenge after Spain beat them as they claimed glory in Vienna at Euro 2008. From that match there are still 19 survivors from their respective sides as they battle against each other again.
Germany will have several of its younger players who have gone on to bagged the European Under 21 Football Championship so they will have a wealth of experience in their side now. The Germans are also in better form havign scored eight goals in their past two matches as they thrashed England and Argentina to get to the semi-finals.
Spain on the other hand have not been convincing, as they reached the last four. They beat Portugal before just managing to beat a stubborn Paraguay side.
There has been talk whether to continue with Fernando Torres in the side as he has yet to score in all the games he started but if anyone still remembers, he scored the winning goal against Germany two years ago.
It remains to be seen if Vicente del Bosque will keep faith in him as compared to strike partner David Villa he looks out of form and Spain have not scored until he has been taken out and replaced in each match he started.
But his inclusion in the side depends on the availability of midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who is looking to overcome shoulder and leg problems in time for the clash. He was impressive after he came on as a substitute against Paraguay.
For Germany coach Joachim Low, Arne Friedrich (foot) and Sami Khedira (hamstring) both missed training on Monday, but they are expected to be fit in time ahead of this clash. Striker Cacau has also been struggling for fitness but could be availabl for selection for Low's selection if he choses to start with the striker.
The big loss is Thomas Muller as he is suspended for this match. Attack-minded trio Cacau, Piotr Trochowski and Mario Gomez are all waiting to come in to replace Muller and it depends on Low who he will select.
Take Germany on level ball not to lose this match in the full 90 minutes.
Cheers and good luck,
