2010-01-16 - Celtic vs Falkirk
A Sports Betting Pick by Stephen
Football: Scottish Premier League
Saturday 16th January Kick Off 3pm
Celtic (2nd) Home Record W6 D3 L0
Falkirk (10th) Away Record W1 D3 L5
Celtic sit 7 points behind Rangers with a game in hand coming into this weekends fixtures. They dominated the recent 1-1 draw with their old firm rivals and will be kicking themselves that they didnt get all 3 points having missed several good chances and also having what seemed a perfectly good goal disallowed.
Celtic's early season form had been indifferent but are looking much better in the recent month or two. The improved form of strikers Giorgos Samaras and Marco Antonio Fortune has been a big plus and even top striker Scott Mcdonald was dropped to the bench for the visit of Rangers. Tony Mowbray had a mini clear out during the week as Gary Caldwell went to Wigan and Willo Flood, Barry Robson and Chris Killen all went south to Middelsboro.
There was also an arrival in the form of Swedish Centre half Joos Hooived and possibly another couple of signings before the transfer window ends. Celtic will be well fancied to win this game against the bottom side Falkirk. Of the 6 games that Celtic have won at home, 5 of them have been won by 2 or more goals, definitely worth a bet in the handicap betting.
Falkirk sit bottom of the SPL although with a game in hand over Kilmarnock who are 2 points ahead of them. They earned a good win at Rugby Park a few weeks back to ease the pressure a little but are likely to still face a relegation battle over the coming months.
In the early months of the season Falkirk struggled to score and only manged 4 goals in their first 10 league games, a 3-3 draw with Celtic and a 2-1 win in their next game saw them get more goals in them 2 games than the previous 10. The goals have dried up a little again and in their last outing they were beaten 1-0 by Hearts. They have managed only 1 win in 5 as they face a tough trip to Celtic Park.
Better news for Eddie May's side is the arrival of Colin Healy from Ipswich and also Enoch Showunmi is set to sign from Leeds. Two signings which are sure to improve the side but Falkirk will have their work cut out on Saturday afternoon.
