Hibs face Rangers in Scotland's match of the weekend on Sunday at Midday. The form teams in the SPL will be hoping to continue their excellent run. Hibs are now unbeaten in 12 games, their last defeat being way back on September 13th when they lost 2-0 at Hamilton. Last week they went to Aberdeen and won 2-0 despite being under pressure from Aberdeen for much of the game they took their chances when they came their way.
A Hibs win here and it will definitely be a reminder to the Old Firm that they can be serious title contenders. Much of Hibs form can be down to the strike partnership of new signing Anthony Stokes and old favourite Derek Riordan who have notched up 15 SPL goals between them. And with players such as Colin Nish and Benjelloun they definitely have strength in depth in the squad. The Hibs defence also deserves huge credit. They have only conceded 3 times at Easter Road in 8 home games and only 10 times in total which is the best defensive record in the league along with todays opponents Rangers.
While Rangers have an excellent defensive record its their strikers that have been making the headlines in recent weeks. The Champions and league leaders have scored 15 goals in their last 4 league games. They have begun to hit some real form for the first time this season and perhaps the champions league exit could have a positive effect on their league form.
Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller have been on fire and have 23 goals between them. They went to in form Dundee United last week and won comfortably 3-0 in a game which inlcuded a stunning strike from a rejuvinated DeMarcus Beasley. Beasley scored again on Saturday in the 6-1 demolition of M otherwell. Those two results are indeed very impressive as both Mothewell and Dundee United in particular have had good seasons so far.
