2009-06-27 - Volga Nizhniy Novgor vs Sibir Novosibirsk
A Sports Betting Pick by Pavel
Football: Russia, Russian 1st Division
Saturday 27th June 2009 - Kickoff 15:00
Volga Novgorod (20th - Home 1-3-3 7:12)
After 2 draws in a row Volga remains the last team of the championship. Even though they had the upper hand during the majority of their last 1-1 game vs. Ural, they couldn’t make it count.
Coach Vladimir Perednya was quoted saying at the press-conference, that his boys are feeling the pressure of their low position and the importance of every game. That’s why only after conceding the first goal, Volga began to really play football without any second thoughts.
With 8 draws in 17 matches to their name Volga really seems to be the victim of psychological problems. And in case Vladimir Perednya manages to relax his players before they go into the match, then results will start coming.
The only injury concern for Nizhniy Novgorod is the injury to striker Zernov 12/1 who will be out for about a month.
Sibir Novosibirsk (4th - Away 5-1-3 8:4)
Novosibirsk outfit will be desperate to grab at least a draw here in order to stay in touch with the leading group. They’re just 3 points behind pole-positioned Alanya and are certainly aware that another lost match will be a big blow for their promotion hopes.
Sibir lost the all important duel to Kamaz in Naberezhnie Chelni 2-1. Due to a horrible first half performance which saw Novosibirsk receive 2 goals, the outcome of the fixture was pretty much decided.
Although Sibir’ did look good enough to make a come back in the second 45 minutes, it just wasn’t to be their day. Injured coach Kriushenko, who traveled with his boys despite being unable to walk, blamed the refs for his team’s bad performance.
But Sibir’s was statistically anticipated as amongst the leading group they’re the worst performers on the road. Just 8 points collected in 7 matches – that’s no promotion material. Especially in comparison with Shinnki’s 16 points and Anzhi’s 13.
Central midfielder Shulenin 14/1 is coming back from suspension, while central defender Buhriakov will have to serve a 6-match ban following his disgraceful behavior in the match vs. Anzhi.
The Betting advice :
The value is on home side here. Volga doesn't look like relegation material to me and even against a might opponent, they can at least grab a draw.
Plus I'd like to remind you, that Sibir' never proclaimed promotion as their season's goal.
