English FA CUP
2009-05-30 - Chelsea vs Everton
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:This will be Guss Hiddink's last match in charge of the Blues and without a doubt the Blues will want to get him a farewell gift before he leaves the club. For Everton, this is David Moyes first Cup Final for the club and will want to win it as well.
Hiddink will resume his duties with coaching Russia who are bidding to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and will not extend his stay at the club. Since taking over from Luiz Felipe Scolari in February, the Dutch coach has won over the admiration of the Chelsea fans after a short spell in charge.
And what better way to bow out in style then to land the Blues' first piece of silverware this season as they bid to regain the Cup they last won in 2007. And in between the guidance of Scolari and Hiddink, in the third round they overcame Southend United after a replay then saw off Ipswich Town in the next stage. Hiddink's arrival saw them managed successes over Coventry City and a semi-final win over London rivals Arsenal.
For Everton, they managed to get this far, when they first beat Macclesfield to set up a clash with Liverpool in the fourth round via a replay. They then managed wins over Aston Villa and Middlesbrough before Moyes' men disposed of Manchester United after the match-up went to penalties.
Interestingly, this final will be the club's first final since they triumphed over Manchester United 14 years ago, courtesy of a Paul Rideout goal. It will also be a first for David Moyes who has previously failed to reach a final or lift a trophy during his seven-year reign on Merseyside.
As for the team news, midfielder Frank Lampard will start this match after overcoming injury. Juliano Belletti is back in the side after being sidelined by a recent virus while Brazilian defender Alex will vie with Ricardo Carvalho to start alongside captain John Terry for a place in the side.
Golden Boot winner Nicolas Anelka will most likely start but injured duo Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira remains out.
David Moyes is meanwhile missing the likes of Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta, Victor Anichebe and Yakubu Aiyegbeni. Striker Louis Saha is pushing for a start while Jack Rodwell and Dan Gosling are in contention to feature.
