Analysis:Chelsea plays their final match of the season at Stamford Bridge hoping they can still finish second in the standings. Blackburn Rovers have nothing to play for as they are virtually assured of Premiership safety heading into this match based on the results of Saturday's matches.
This will also be Guus Hiddink's last home match at Stamford Bridge as he looks set to part after replacing Luiz Felipe Scolari until the end of the season.
As it stands now, they trail Liverpool by 3 points and with two games to go, they still have an outside chance of finishing second. For that to happen, Liverpool need to drop points in their matches.
Meanwhile Sam Allardyce who was brought in to replace Paul Ince, has already achieved his target of keeping them in the Premiership. Blackburn does have a poor record on their travels though. They have lost four away games in a row and conceded 12 goals and scored just once. It will not be easy coming up against a Chelsea side who scored four against Arsenal at The Emirates last weekend.
As for the team news, Hiddink could very well stick to the same side that beat Arsenal last weekend at The Emirates. After the coach switched to the 4-4-2 formation, the combination of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka worked well and they could be retained ahead of this match.
However, Salomon Kalou is out after hurting his ankle in a friendly with Manchester City in midweek. Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti are also doubtful as they are suffering from a bout of flu.
The visitors may also stick to the same starting eleven that played in their win over Portsmouth which took them to 40 points. The good news is that defender Andre Ooijer is available once again after recovering from a hamstring injury ahead of this match.
Injured striker Roque Santa Cruz is out of this match still but has gave indications he will not be at the club next season. Jason Roberts is another casualty, which means that defender Chris Samba may partner Benni McCarthy up front, or he could drop into defence allowing McCarthy to play alone upfront.
