2009-05-03 - Sunderland vs Everton
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Super Sunday action comes from the Stadium of Light as Sunderland welcomes the visit of Everton. With Sunderland winning just once in their last nine matches they have dropped to within just four points of the relegation zone.
But with last week's beating at the hands of bottom club West Brom, it has put more pressure on them and Newcastle as well as Hull City could catch them if they lose this match.
The Black Cats will want to win this penultimate match at home this season to guarantee their survival in the Premiership. Sunderland will also want to make up for their poor record against Everton as they have not beaten The Toffees since 2001, some eight league games ago, whereby in that time Everton have racked up three wins on Wearside.
But it must be noted that Everton are not the best of form away from home having not won on their travels since December when they beat Middlesbrough on Boxing Day. A win for the visitors here could move them up into fifth spot though.
With regards to the team news, the hosts will miss the services of Craig Gordon and Nyron Nosworthy. George McCartney is also doubtful with a calf injury. Captain Dean Whitehead should start this match after making a comeback last week. Steed Malbranque could also start after their defeat last week to West Brom.
The visitors meanwhile will miss the services of Phil Jagielka who misses the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury. Joseph Yobo will therefore partner Joleon Lescott for the rest of the season in central defence.
The likes of James Vaughan, Jack Rodwell and Dan Gosling could all start this match while Tim Cahill may start after starting on the bench last weekend.
Go for Sunderland to get a surprise win here.
Cheers and good luck,
