Analysis:Valencia comes into this match with Atletico Madrid knowing that they have nothing to play for while Atletico Madrid will want to win and make sure that they do not drop to fifth spot as Sevilla could overtake them into the fourth spot on goal difference if they were to get beaten here.
For Valencia despite staying in La Liga as at one stage they were battling against relegation, they will want to forget this season as they have had a poor season by their standard. In their last eight games they managed only three wins and those were against already relegated Levante winning 1-5, Real Zaragoza battling against relegation winning 1-0 and Osasuna another team at the bottom end winning 3-0.
Though their last two home matches they have won it was against the bottom teams of Osasuna and Zaragoza so they were not really impressive results. They were faced with teams in the top ten prior to that and were beaten by Racing 1-2 as well as humbled by Real Mallorca 0-3 at home.
As for Atletico Madrid, with Barcelona winning yesterday, they are unable to move into third spot, but can at least maintain their fourth spot and with it a place in the Champions League qualifying spot. They have lost just twice in their last eight games, and are coming into this match unbeaten in their last four games, with three of them wins in a row.
Their away form has seen them just just once in their previous four – against second placed Villarreal, but they have failed to pick up wins as they drew with Real Valladolid and Getafe both 1-1. However tin their last away game they picked up a good away win over Espanyol winning 2-0 and Espanyol is ranked a spot higher than Valencia in 11th spot.
As mentioned earlier, they have won three in a row now, beating Recreativo 3-0, Espanyol 2-0 and Deportivo 1-0, that is scoring 6 goals and have yet to conceded in that three games.
Take Atletico Madrid to win here or at least not to get beaten on the level ball handicap.
