Analysis:Liverpool goes into this match with nothing to play for this season after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Chelsea and now it is just a formality for them to complete the Premiership fixtures. For Manchester City there are doubts over the future of Sven Goran Eriksson after reports saying that he will be axed after poor performances in the second half of the season.
This will be the Reds last home game so they will want to finish on a high though. However they are unlikely to risk Spanish striker Fernando Torres after he was forced off against Chelsea with a hamstring problem.
Martin Skrtel is another player unlikely to feature after he limped off with a knee injury. That means that Sami Hyypia is likely to come into the side to replace Skrtel in central defence alongside Jamie Carragher. Peter Crouch is likely to take over from Torres in attack.
Benitez is likely to make changes to the side after the extra time took its toll on the Liverpool players.
As for Manchester City, they are hoping that Captain Richard Dunne will be fit for this match after missing the home defeat to Fulham with a hamstring injury. Meanwhile Micah Ricards is still out of the side with a knee injury while Nedum Onuoha is also sidelined.
Valeri Bojinov could get his break after a long injury while left-back Javi Garrido has returned to training but at best could start from the bench.
