Analysis:Don’t be fooled by their league positions as Deportivo may be in 8th spot but they have lost just once in their last eight games and have won their last four home games in a row while Barcelona have only managed just one win in their last eight games and are winless in their last four away games from the Nou Camp. More importantly for Barcelona they will need to face Manchester United in the return leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday so they are likely to be distracted here as they are some 11 points away from Real Madrid who could clinch the La Liga title this weekend itself.
Deportivo is finishing the season a high that is for sure. They have won their last four home matches beating the likes of Sevilla 2-1, Real Madrid 1-0, Real Murcia 3-1 and Athletic Bilbao 3-0. That is scoring 9 goals in four matches and conceding only 2.
Their last match saw them beat Osasuna 0-1 away from home and that makes it four consecutive wins since they were beaten by Real Mallorca 1-0 on their travels.
As for Barcelona, there was all the talk about Lionel Messie coming back especially against Espanyol, but he has failed to perform after returning from injury and was nowhere spectacular against Manchester United in midweek.
Their only win in their last eight games was against Real Valladolid when they won 4-1 at home. Their past four away games has yet to see them win as they were beaten twice and draw twice. Their draws were against Almeria and Recreativo both 2-2 while they were beaten by Athletico Madrid 4-2 and also by Real Betis 3-2.
Barcelona’s last three games have all ended in draws – in midweek they also drew with Manchester United 0-0. Their past three draws were against Getafe 0-0, Recreativo 2-2 and Espanyol 0-0.
With Ronaldinho out injured and their strikers not performing, it is hard to see where the goals will come from.
