Analysis:Nurnberg bottom of the Bundesliga welcome the visit of Wolfsburg for the only match on Sunday. A win for the home side would at least lift them off the bottom of the table while for the visitors a win would put them closer to a spot for the UEFA Cup.
Nurnberg has only managed one win in their last eight matches coming into this match while for the visitors Wolfsburg, they seldom draw away games - in fact they have only drawn 2 matches on the road this season.
Nurnberg’s last match was a 3-0 away defeat to Stuttgart but at home they usually give out their best as evident in their last four home games as they drew all previous four games against the likes of Energie Cottbus 1-1, Hamburger 0-0 and against Bochum and leaders Bayern Munich both ending in 1-1 as well.
Even though Wolfsburg have lost their last match against Bochum at home going down 0-1, but in their last eight games they have never lost back to back matches and we have to go back until 11th November 2007 when they were beaten twice in a row to Leverkusen 1-2 at home and followed up with a defeat to Bayern Munich going down 2-1 two weeks later!
Wolfsburg’s last four away games has been good as they have lost just once, going down to Karlsruher 3-1. They haven’t drawn since and the other three games ended with wins over the likes of Schalke 1-2, Werder Bremen as well as Hansa Rostock 0-1.
Since Nurnberg has drawn their last five home games, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a sixth games they were to draw at home too.
