Scottish Cup
2008-01-16 - Clyde vs Dundee United
A Sports Betting Pick by Auls
Scottish FA Cup - 4th Round
Kickoff 19:45 GMT
The winner of this tie will have a trip to St Mirren in the next round.
CLYDE
Clyde sit in 9th spot in Division 1 in Scotland only occupying the position above bottom. They have a big scalp in recent memory when they beat Celtic here in Roy Keane's debut game for the green and white hoops but this season they have struggled to win games at home. They are 3-1-5 there but have only scored 8 goals, although defensively they have only conceded 12.
Clyde have not been in good form with only 1 win from 7 games. At home they have also been struggling, winning 2 of 6 games while losing 3. The wins have come against the side directly above them in the table and Montrose, a lower league side in the Cup. They have been knocked out of the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Challenge Cup at home this season to Raith Rovers and Dunfermline respectively.
Clyde have no new injury worries or suspensions to worry about.
DUNDEE UNITED
Dundee United are one of the dark horses to win this competition if they can progress this draw as they are capable of beating anyone on their day but mainly at home. While they are 7-1-3 at home, they have had mirror results away where they are 3-1-7 with 17 goals scored and 23 conceded. Dundee United are currently 5th in the Scottish Premier League and while the top 2 are really out of reach, Motherwell are only 3 points better off in 3rd spot.
Dundee United have had some terrible performances of late with 4 defeats in their last 5 and 6 defeats in their last 8 games. United have lost 4 of their last 6 games on their travels but all of these were at teams occupying spots in the top half of the table. Dundee's away wins have all come against teams in the bottom half.
They have made the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup this season so will be expected to make it through this round. Dundee United only have 1 clean sheet from 8 away games, but Clyde's lack of goals may not cause them enough worries.
Grzegorz Szamotulski, goalkeeper, will miss out for Dundee United, but the extra few days of rest enables Jordan Robertson and Willo Flood to make the squad.
PREDICTION :
If Clyde had more of a goal threat in their team I would feel they have enough to take this game to a replay at Tannadice. However Dundee United are more than capable of scoring a couple of goals here and that should be enough to go through.
United generally beat the teams in the lower half of the table, so a side in the bottom places of Division 1 should be a win for the team in Orange.
The Pick :
CLYDE 0-2 DUNDEE UNITED
