2005 Louisiana Tech @ Idaho 41-38
Louisiana Tech
The Bulldogs have a poor record so far this season, it is important to note that they were the underdog in virtually every game this season and if they had played as expected they would be 2-6.
Highlights of the season include playing a very tight game against conference powerhouses Hawai’i and Boise State. Both games were lost but good fighting spirit was shown.
Offensive standout is QB Zac Champion, he has passed for over 1400 yards and he will expect to pass on 2 out of every three plays.
The defence has been solid, holding all except the elite teams to under 25 points, they are 3rd in the conference and will need to be resolute.
Sports Illustrated rate Tech as the 103rd team in Div1AA, my own rankings hae them significantly better at 87th.
Idaho Vandals
The Vandals have had a miserable season so far, the only victory coming over lower division Cal Poly and that only by 7 points.
Idaho have not played anyone close so far this season, including several defeats against fellow bottom feeders.
The most telling statistic is that they have only held one opponent below 30 points while at the same time only managing 30 points twice.
The Vandals play a balanced game, they pass about as often as they run, they have had little success and rank towards the bottom in all offensive and defensive categories.
If they are to achieve success they will need to give the ball to RB Deonte Jackson, he has been over 100 yards in 5 out of the 8 games, if Idaho get behind early and are required to pass it will be bad news.
Prediction
Louisiana Tech have not faced such a week team and will want to win to keep very faint bowl hopes alive, they should prove too strong for an Idaho team which has not shown the ability to trouble even the weakest teams
The Pick :
BEST BETTING TIP :
The pick Louisiana Tech (-3.5) available for 2.040 at PinnacleI would like to pick the over (54 points) but I am not confident that Idaho can score enough to keep the scoreboard ticking over, maybe a tiny investment is in order.
