2005-08-23 - Raith Rovers vs Livingston
A Sports Betting Pick by Beanie
Livi picked up their first point and their first goal on Saturday, but neither was impressive. The goal, which is still unclear as to whether it was from Ramon Pereira or a Dunfermline defender, was a scrappy goal, with a few lucky breaks along the way. Apart from that Livingston looked as sluggish up front as they have all season. They were also outplayed by Dunfermline for the most part on Saturday, with a few incisive passing moves from the Fifers cutting through the Livi rearguard all too easily. There are still far too many weak links in the side, which means there is very little in the way of service to the strikers. And what service their is is all to often very poorly handled by the frontmen, who really don't fill the support with confidence. And with the very classy Pinxten still out injured at the back, there are reasons for optimism here for Raith.
Raith have had a mixed bag of results this season, but with players like Crilly, Annand and Crabbe around they have plenty experience to help their youngsters along. A tough 2-1 win away to Alloa will have done wonders for their confidence, and I think they will be relishing the visit of an off the boil SPL side to test themselves against and possibly spring an upset.
At the moment, Livi won't be too adventurous against anyone, and I think that will be the case tomorrow night. They will know they are not playing well, and will first and foremost look to keep a clean sheet, and if the misfiring strikers can somehow shin the ball in then thats a bonus. For me its 50/50 as to whether they win it in 90 minutes, so worth a lay.
