Georgia Bulldogs
The ‘Dawgs have looked very solid this season, the only defeat has come against a very good South Carolina team. Defence has been the key so far, only Alabama have managed to score over 20 points, at the same time the attack has been reasonable with South Carolina being the only team to slow them down.
Key to the game will be the performance of QB Matthew Stafford, he has been very efficient so far with 7 TD’s and only 2 Int in the first 5 games. Freshman RB Knowshon Moreno has been averaging a healthy 5.5 yards per carry, the Bulldogs would be wise to allow him to shoulder more of the load
Tennessee Vols
The Vols have looked very poor in every outing against a quality opponent, the two victories have come against bottom feeders Southern Miss and Arkansas State. Things look grim for Tennessee, the defence has been tragic allowing a massive 37.5 points a game, offence has been marginally better but still only ranks 5th in the SEC.
Plus points are stud QB Erik Ainge,, he has posted 1130 yards in just 4 games, on the flipside there has been little running game and that will hurt. Biggest advantage for the Vols will be the crowd, 112,000 fans make a lot of noise and the atmosphere will be intimidating.
THE VERDICT
The last 3 games have all been won by the visiting team, I expect that to continue as the aerial battle will ultimately be won by Georgia. Good defence will win the day and Georgia have a surplus of this.
The Pick :
Georgia 31 – 24 Tennessee
