2007-07-21 - West Coast Eagles vs Sydney Swans
A Sports Betting Pick by Gooner
West Coast (9-6) v Sydney (8-7)
West Coast look lke a good bet to get past Sydney today at Subiaco - with the groin injury to the Swans main goalkicker Barry Hall under scrutiny.
Hall kicked 4 goals in Sydneys win over Carlton last weekend - but may struggle to find the moblitiy required to compete at the ALF largest ground - with Subiaco 25.5m longer than the playing surface at the SCG.
The west Coast Eagles are starting to look surprisingly vulberable at home having lost their last two games here to St kilda (76-99) and the Brisbane Lions (64-91) after winning seven matches on the trot.
With these two sides having played each other in the last two grand finals - this game is always a focus - but moreso right now as both Sydney and West Coast are battling just to get into the top four with a series of inconsistant performances.
Sydney have a reasonable travelling record of 4-3 so far this season, but a trip to Subiaco is always tough - even though Sydney won their last game here 85-84.
However, it's the Eagles that hold the mental upper hand with a pair of 1 point wins since then - in last years Grand Final - and the opening game of this season at Staidum Australia.
THE VERDICT
Sydney could surprise - but it's stacked against them a bit here - and the 1.80 price on West Coast during the week has dropped as the news on Hall's injury has been filtered through.
I think that the West Coast will win today.
The Pick :
West Coast by 12 points.
