Spain are riding the wave, 19 players remain in the squad from last summer's Euros & 18 from the 2010 World Cup. Del Bosque will probably stick with most of this squad to defend the world cup next year (if they qualify), I do hope the under 21 player Isco can force his way in to next years tournament.
The only notable omission is Xabi Alonso(injury), and there is the dilemma of who goes in goal, with Iker Casillas being starved of game time when Mourinho coached Real Madrid, Del Bosque may prefer Barca’s Victor Valdes.
There is no problem up front, and one could argue that after Torres good form in the Europa cup for Chelsea he deserves a start in at least one of the games.
Spain have scored in each of their last 12 games, netting a total of 31 goals.
Spain are strong in every position, and though winning the Confederation cup would complete the hat-trick (WC/Euro/Confed) there is still a question mark on just how much the players really want it!

If there is the possibility of Spain going a little stale, spare a thought for Uruguay, 4th in the world cup 2010, qualified for Confed because the won the Copa America in 2011, but now are 5 points adrift of automatically qualifying for the world cup next year , having been put to the sword by neighbours Argentina,….and even Bolivia!
The win over Venezuela on Tuesday ended their six-match winless run in competitive matches, and would be the boost they need coming into a group they should progress from.
Coach Oscar Tabarez will probably need to give Diego Forlan a bit part in this tournament as he accommodates the return of Luis Suarez from suspension.
Luis Suarez has scored 10 goals in his last 13 matches for Uruguay, but there lies the problem , both he and fellow striker Edinson Cavani are great goal scorers , but not when they are both on the pitch !
The Betting Verdict
Though Uruguay pose the biggest threat in this group for Spain, the Spaniards should take this one out, the winner of this game will almost certainly top the group, and hence possibly avoiding Brazil in the semis.
