Italian Serie A
2013-05-19 - Atalanta vs Chievo
A Sports Betting Pick by ROzsolt
Football : Italy : Serie A
Venue: "Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia" - Bergamo
Sunday 19th May – Kickoff time: 15:00 GMT+1
Atalanta (14th W11 D8 L18)
Atalanta took the lead in Udine last weekend through Giuseppe De luca, but they couldn’t hold on against the enthusiastic hosts in a game that ended 2-1 for Europa League chasing Udinese.
It was the Nerazzuri ‘s third consecutive defeat, but Atalanta’s fans will see Serie A football in the upcoming season as well, so the objective was accomplished.
Atalanta are coming into this match on the back of a six games winless run which led some of their fans criticize coach Stefano Colantuono for the poor run.
Colantuono will be without strikers Igor Budan, Guido Marilungo and Franco Brienza for the last game of the season, with midfielder Riccardo Cazzola and defender Cristian Raimondi also sidelined through injury.
Chievo (12th W12 D8 L17)
Striker Cyril Thereau put Chievo in front at the Olimpico stadium in Turin with his ninth goal of the season last weekend to eventually earn his side a point against Torino in a game that ended 1-1.
Chievo is another side that successfully managed to achieve their objective, which was to avoid relegation. They’ll have to thank coach Corini for the solid campaign, the 42 years old did a good job at his debut in Serie A as a coach.
There are reports linking him to Torino or even relegated Palermo, but chances are that we’ll see him on Chievo’s bench in the upcoming season as well.
The Flying Donkeys will travel to Bergamo without goalkeeper Samir Ujkani, defender Nikos Spyropoulos and strikers Sergio Pellissier and Alberto Paloschi who are all injured.
The Betting Verdict
There’s not much at stake for these two, but Atalanta will surely want to pick up a win at their last home game of the season after a series of disappointing results.
I wouldn’t be too confident about that bet though, this match could easily end in a characteristic end of the season Serie A draw, so I’ll turn my attention to the goals market.
I’m not sure why we are being offered these kind of odds for under 2.5 goals, but looking at these sides recent results taking that bet at evens is worth a shot in my opinion.
Atalanta have the third lowest tally for goals scored at home and their last four home games ended with less than three goals being scored.
Chievo is another team that was involved in some low scoring affairs lately, only five goals have been scored in their last six Serie A games.
