2013-05-17 - CFR Cluj vs Concordia
A Sports Betting Pick by ROzsolt
Football : Romania: Liga 1
Venue: "Dr. Constantin Radulesc" - Cluj-Napoca
Friday 17th May – Kickoff time: 19:30 GMT+2
CFR Cluj (9th W11 D11 L9)
With three rounds to go, CFR Cluj are already preparing for the summer transfer period which is expected to be a busy one for the former champions.
At least six players are expected to leave the club at the end of May, which means that we’ll see a whole new squad in the upcoming season, when CFR will probably be one of the main contenders for the title.
Until then they’ll have to save the appearances and obtain some decent results in the remaining rounds after some dreadful performances in 2013.
CFR Cluj will actually be looking for their first home victory in 2013, the former champions failed to win all six matches played at the “Dr. Constantin Radulescu” since the second part of the season kicked off.
Concordia Chiajna (15th W6 D11 L14)
Strugglers Concordia Chiajna are trying to avoid the drop, but with three games to play they are currently one point below the line on the 15th place.
Concordia Chiajna are winless in 14 Liga 1 games, their last victory was obtained back in November when they managed to get the better of bottom placed Gloria Bistrita.
Ilie Stan’s side are unbeaten in three games though, Concordia held CSMS Iasi, Rapid Bucuresti and Petrolul Ploiesti to draws recently.
They will now travel to Cluj-Napoca trying to avoid their 10th defeat on the road during this season. Their last victory on the road occurred back in October.
The Betting Verdict
New coach Eugen Trica will have the tough job of motivating his overpaid players to bring their A game in this match against Concordia Chiajna with not much at stake for the hosts.
CFR’s season is compromised, but this may be one of the last chances for players that will be put on the transfer list to impress and obtain a spot in CFR’s squad for the upcoming season.
Concordia Chiajna on the other hand has a lot to play for, they are desperate for points, but the problem is that they don’t seem capable to defeat anyone. As I mentioned before, Concordia are winless in 14 games.
Under normal conditions I wouldn’t touch this game, but the odds for the home win are quite tasty considering how poor Concordia Chiajna are playing at the moment. I think there is some value in backing CFR despite their terrible results in 2013, but there’s also a risk of a draw (which would be a good results for the guests), so keep the stakes small.
The Pick :
CFR Cluj 2-1 Concordia Chiajna
