Football – England – League One Play-Off Final
Sunday 19th May 2013 – Kickoff: 1330hrs
BRENTFORD
It may be the last day of the Premiership season but these two clubs have their own date with destiny in the early match this Sunday as Brentford and Yeovil Town do battle at Wembley Stadium to determine who joins Doncaster Rovers and Bournemouth into the Championship next season.
It’s a reasonably rare occurrence that the third and fourth placed teams face-off in the play-off final of any English league, but these two clubs have deserved not to lose out in the semi finals and they now take their place in the final with Championship football at stake. Brentford eventually saw off Swindon Town after both legs finished in draws, with The Bees taking it on penalties.
A 1-1 draw at the County Ground was followed with a tense 3-3 draw at Griffin Park, but Brentford’s good home record continued when it mattered most following on from their regular season home record of 14-6-3 37/22. Brentford’s danger men include striker and leading goalscorer Donaldson (20 goals, 5 assists), Forrester (8 goals, 6 assists) with Logan, Forshaw, Trotta and Saunders all contributing 5 assists apiece.
YEOVIL TOWN
Yeovil Town will be looking to make a piece of their own footballing history when they bid for their first promotion up to the second tier of English football following their two-legged victory over highly-fancied Sheffield United.
The Glovers actually trailed 0-1 going into the second leg after their narrow defeat at Bramall Lane, but Gary Johnson’s men showed their determined character and overturned the deficit with a 2-0 win thanks to a late aggregate winner from Ed Upson in dramatic fashion at their Huish Park to send the Yeovil faithful into ecstacy.
Yeovil’s attacking resources includes their prolific Irish striker Madden (22 goals, 4 assists) and Hayter (14 goals, 5 assists) while the likes of Foley (5 goals, 9 assists), McAllister (5 assists) and Webster (5 goals) have provided valuable support along with Upson’s creativity (10 assists) and the crucial goal that took them to the final.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
I believe that both of these sides are evenly matched and with the stakes being very high in a crucial 90 minutes, I’m backing that it will end up all-square at the end of regular time and extra time, perhaps even penalties, will follow. A 1-1 draw at the end of 90 mins.
The Pick :
Brentford 1 Yeovil Town 1
BEST BETTING TIP :
Pick:Take the Draw at end of 90 mins @ 3.34 Pinnacle
