NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Well, what a cracker to end things with in the Championship here at the City Ground as east midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and Leicester City do battle for a possible last-gasp play-off place for the winner, aside from the usual bragging rights that go along with this clash.
Nottingham Forest had earlier looked certs to be involved in the play-off mix following a run of decent results which heralded the return of manager Billy Davies as I’ve mentioned before in previous previews, but Forest may well be left regretting a recent run of six matches without a win before ending their drought at Millwall last weekend.
Four draws (against Brighton, Burnley, Blackpool and Barnsley) along with back-to-back away losses at Cardiff City and Middlesbrough means that it all boils down to the last match of the season for the Tricky Trees as they look to nick the last play-off place ahead of Bolton Wanderers and today’s opponents Leicester City.
Nottingham Forest’s home record stands at 10-8-4 35/25 and they’ve suffered just one loss in their last twelve matches which was to third placed Watford who are vying for automatic promotion along with Cardiff City.
LEICESTER CITY
Visitors Leicester City were also among the front-runners of the Championship earlier in the season but The Foxes have since imploded and this has resulted in them now depending on other results as well as them taking all the points at Forest on Saturday to just have even a slight chance of making the play-offs.
A wretched run of just one league win from their last twelve matches which includes defeats against Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, Millwall, Barnsley and Watford means that Leicester City fans seem almost certain to be resigned to yet another frustrating season in England’s second tier.
To make matters worse, The Foxes’ away record is an unconvincing 5-7-10 22/23 and they’ve gone eight matches now on their travels without a win, picking up just four points from the last possible 24 on offer and they face a tough task at what is likely to be a charged-up Forest at the City Ground.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
Although both teams have stuttered in recent weeks, Forest’s home record speaks for itself and I’ll back them with the round ball today as they could win this one 2-1 perhaps.
