BETTING PREVIEW

While I was spot on with the prediction that Dortmund would not be able to keep Madrid from scoring, we fell short as Madrid failed to score the 2nd goal for our bet. Instead, they conceded 4 goals, and are now left with a very, very difficult task tonight. They need a minimum of 3 goals, but only if they keep a clean sheet. Otherwise, the need will be 4, or even 5!

There are only 90 minutes, and Dortmund will be well aware that the longer the game goes on the more desperate Madrid will become, but that does not mean Madrid will bide their time. They are a team with enough firepower to start strong and that is what I expect.

Ronaldo was rested on the weekend, as Madrid fell behind almost immediately to a Falcao strike but then fought back to win 2-1 at Atletico in the derby. He's back in the side for this one, and while I expect him to score, the prices offer no value. In fact, looking around, the prices on the Madrid win, even on AH are no good. Overs, both teams to score, same story.

I think we should focus on goals. Madrid will go for goals but while they may score, the severe focus on trying to score will leave them more than a little vulnerable to Dortmund's attack. And what an attack it is. I would be stunned if Dortmund didn't break and score a goal in this one, possible more, and with that possibility I am loath to look at bets on Real winning or going through.

THE BETTING VERDICT

Goals are needed and needed fast, and I think they will come. It might be Dortmund that even scores first, but with this bet it won't matter.

If Real come out of the traps flying, I think we will have this 1st half winner in no time.
