Football : English Premier League
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Sunday 28th April 2013 – Kickoff time 15:00
Match Preview :
After the draw with Liverpool in their last match, which Rafa Benitez felt aggrieved by the amount of injury-time played at Anfield, allowing Suarez to snatch a last-gasp equaliser and deny the Blues a third straight league win.
Chelsea could also find themselves outside the Champions League places by the time they kick off if Tottenham can beat Wigan on Saturday night.
The draw with Liverpool was best remembered for Luis Suarez biting Branislav Ivanovic for which later Suarez was handed a 10 match ban which has not been appealed.
In midweek, Chelsea took a great step towards the final of the Europa League when they managed to beat Basel 2-1 away from home in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final, but it is a place in the top four that is Benitez main target before he leaves Chelsea in the summer.
For Swansea, they have failed to win in their last five matches heading into this match, but having won the Capital One Cup in February, they can see their season as a success no matter what happens.
It should be noted that they did beat Chelsea 2-0 at the semi-finals stage on their way to Wembley, but have not struggled in the league since passing the 40 point mark. Their last match was a goalless draw with Southampton.
Team News :
Chelsea Team News :
Demba Ba is likely to return up front after being ineligible for the Europa League, with Fernando Torres set to make way after featuring against Basel. Meanwhile, Eden Hazard is in line to face Swansea again after being sent off for kicking a ball boy during February's Capital One Cup semi-final between the teams.
Gary Cahill was an unused substitute in the win against Basel and could start in defence following his six-week absence with a knee injury, with Oriol Romeu (knee) the only definite absentee here.
Swansea Team News :
Swansea manager Laudrup has no new injury ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge. Neil Taylor was an unused substitute against Southampton last weekend following a lengthy injury lay-off and Laudrup may decide to start him in this match.
Should Laudrup decides to freshen his side then Wayne Routledge and Ki Sung-yueng are pushing for starts.
Prediction:
Go for Chelsea to win and clear the 1 1/2 ball.
