Siena showed excellent character lately having delivered good results despite playing under pressure, Iachini’s squad is now on a five games unbeaten run in Serie A.
The Bianconeri just recorded their third away win of the season against bottom placed Pescara thanks to a late Emeghara goal after a pulsating battle at the Stadio Adriatico.
Siena will now try to tie two victories together, they haven’t won a home match since a 3-0 win over Lazio back in February. Since then the Bianconeri were unable to score a goal during 270 minutes of play against Atalanta, Cagliari and Parma.
Iachini has no important players missing for this match, so he’ll probably field the same eleven that started against Pescara.
Chievo (16th W10 D6 L16)
Chievo’s had some tough fixtures lately and only managed to pick up one points from the games against Milan, Udinese and Catania. These results saw them drop to the 16 position in the Serie A table.
It remains an eight point distance between them and the drop zone, but Chievo, Torino, Atalanta or Sampdoria could easily get dragged into the relegation in the upcoming weeks.
Chievo will try to improve their dreadful away record, the Gialloblu have lost 12 games on the road this season, only bottom placed Pescara has lost as many.
Coach Corini can field his best eleven in Siena with their top scorers Thereau and Paloschi up front.
The Betting Verdict
With upcoming fixtures against sides that are fighting for top positions like Roma, Catania, Fiorentina, Napoli and Milan, Siena will have to make the most of this match in order to increase their survival chances.
The problem is that they might not be capable to do it, Siena can surprise opponents on counter attacks when they are opening up, but when teams travel to the Artemio Franchi and have no intention to take chances, then Iachini’s side is finding it very difficult to break down their defenses.
Siena will have to come up with something different against Chievo if they want to break their duck after three consecutive home games without scoring, but after their recent home performances I would be uncomfortable backing them against an unpredictable Chievo side.
