Inter Milan with just one win in their last five matches will hope to get maximum points when they welcome Parma at home. In midweek Inter Milan suffered another defeat, this time in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia to AS Roma. Their cause was compounded by the loss of Esteban Cambiasso and Fredy Guarin, who both suffered injuries in that clash.
Manager Andrea Stramaccioni has now a total of 14 players out of the side all due to injuries. And to make matters worse, the only area where injuries are not really a factor is the defence that has let in nine goals in their last thee games. With their present squad it is unthinkable how they can make up the nine points gap to Milan who are third, and could miss out on Europe entirely as Lazio and Roma sit above them in the standings.
Their only consolation is that they will play against an equally out-of-form Parma at home. Inter have already lost their last three matches at home which means they cannot afford another defeat or even a draw here but all three points.
Inter will most likely keep faith to the pair of Ricky Alvarez and Tommaso Rocchi upfront. They have done well in their last two games considering all the news surrounding them. The Argentinean is really coming into his own and improving as he aims to prove what he is capable of.
As for Parma, Roberto Donadoni’s side have picked up just seven points in their last seven games. In fact they have accumulated just 13 points in the 14 games in 2013 which is the joint-second worst tally alongside Palermo.
Parma are also badly hit by injuries as former Inter man MacDonald Mariga, Rafael Palladino, Emilio MacEachen and Jonathan Biabiany are all likely to miss out through injuries. Defender Gabriel Paletta is suspended for this match as well.
And while Parma have beaten Inter three times in their last five meettings, all those wins have come at their home stadium. They have not enjoyed their travels of late as their last win on their travels was back in December last year. And since then they have lost five of their seven games away.
