BRADFORD CITY
Bradford City will be looking to consolidate their play-off position when they entertain poor travellers Burton Albion at Valley Parade on Saturday afternoon in their final home match of the season.
Bradford had previously put together a six match unbeaten run which was halted in midweek with a 0-2 reverse to Rotherham United but they’ll be looking to bounce back with a vital win with the visit of Burton Albion on Saturday as Burton possess a much weaker away record than The Millermen.
Recent wins over Wycombe Wanderers, Torquay United, Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers catapulted Bradford City into the play-off positions and they’ll be looking to hang onto their current position to extend their promising season and try and make it an excellent campaign.
Bradford’s home record stands at a much improved 11-5-6 33/21 and they have firepower in the form of striker Wells (18 goals, 4 assists), Hanson (9 goals, 8 assists) and Connell (8 goals) along with the supply from Jones (7 assists), which, if they all fire, could cause Burton some serious problems in the final third, and could be considered for anytime scorers.
BURTON ALBION
Visitors Burton Albion are definitely one of those teams that are of a ‘Jeckyll and Hyde’ persona; their home form has been strong all season, while their away form has continually let them down to the extent that they could have wrapped up automatic promotion by now had The Brewers been more consistent on the road.
An away record of 5-7-10 22/41 is one of the poorer away records in the top seven and in addition they’ve conceded the most number of goals away from home in the whole of League Two to date. Burton’s home form has never been in question and this was evident again with recent wins over Wycombe and Plymouth Argyle, but on the road they’ve won just twice in their last fourteen away matches.
Their last trip to Port Vale ended in disaster as The Brewers were handed a 1-7 footballing lesson, and they’ve kept just four clean sheets on their travels to date which gives Bradford more than a fighting chance here this afternoon. However, Burton do possess some key attacking players of their own in the shape of Maghoma (15 goals, 7 assists), Kee (12 goals, 5 assists) and Symes (3 goals, 5 assists), so it maybe worth looking at one of those as anytime scorer perhaps.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
Bradford’s last home game of the season though should mean a bumper crowd for The Bantams and I don’t think they’ll disappoint particularly with Burton having such a poor away record. Take Bradford City to win with perhaps a 2-1 scoreline.
