MK DONS
MK Dons will be looking to press home their home advantage at their stadium:mk on Saturday afternoon when they take on fourth from bottom club Scunthorpe United who themselves are five points adrift of safety with just two matches remaining.
It’s The Dons’ last home match of the season so they’ll be looking to end it on a high by taking all the points to keep alive their play-off hopes and it’s a must-win too as they currently trail Swindon Town in sixth place by four points with their last match of the campaign being away at Stevenage.
MK Dons bounced back well in midweek with a 2-0 away win at Colchester United following defeat at Leyton Orient last weekend, and that result could be instrumental in them having a serious shot at finishing in a top six place. The Dons’ home form has also been on the rise in recent weeks with an important run of four matches without defeat including three wins over Tranmere Rovers 3-0, Brentford 2-0 and Swindon Town 2-0 along with a point against Crawley Town.
SCUNTHORPE UNITED
Visitors Scunthorpe United are fighting an immense struggle against relegation particularly as their last two matches are away at MK Dons and then a home fixture against Swindon Town who may just need the points when next week rolls around.
Just one win from their last nine matches has almost done for The Iron as they face a massive task of turning around two wins from their last two matches to have any chance of League One survival.
Defeats against Brentford, Doncaster Rovers and Bournemouth suggest they could falter again at The Dons particularly having lost their last seven away matches on the trot, scoring just one goal in the process (1-2 at Bury) in midweek.
The writing appears to be very much on the wall here for Scunthorpe with a disappointing away record of 5-3-14 17/35 and it’s no surprise they are the league’s lowest goalscorers away from home with no fewer than twelve matches where they’ve failed to score.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
MK Dons need to score first I feel in this one if they’re to take the points, and with Scunthorpe’s previous shyness in front of goal there’s every chance this could happen. I’ll back The Dons to cover the -1 asian line here as Scunthorpe are all but down and out... 2-0 to MK Dons.
