Cagliari have announced their intention to leave their controversial stadium Is Arenas and will play their remaining home games in Trieste.
Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste is 600 miles away, so there goes the home advantage, but Cagliari have done quite well recently when playing without any support from their fans.
Cagliari have played a series of games at the Is Arenas behind closed doors and managed to win the last three games under those conditions against opponents like Torino, Sampdoria and Fiorentina, scoring a bunch of goals in the process (9).
The only important absence will be Radja Nainggolan’s, he’ll probably be replaced by Uruguayan midfielder Cabrera.
Inter Milan (6th W15 D5 L11)
Inter Milan’s miserable run in Serie A continued last week when they threw away a two-goal lead to suffer a 4-3 home defeat against Atalanta.
The Nerazzuri are now sixth place in the league and may have to rely on a comeback in the Coppa Italia final to have any chance at playing in Europe in the upcoming season.
The defeat against Atalanta was their third from the last four fixtures, all three losses being recorded at the Giuseppe Meazza in Milano.
They are doing slightly better on the road, after a seven games winless run Inter have recorded back to back victories in their last two trip to Catania and Genoa (against Sampdoria).
Inter Milan’s injury crisis deepened lately, there are now some new additions to the injury list. Stramaccioni will have to start with Rocchi and Alvarez up front since all his strikers (Milito, Cassano and Palacio) are out.
The Betting Verdict
Cagliari shouldn’t have any worries in what is left of this season, they are now just one point away from the 40 points mark which should be enough to survive in Serie A.
Inter Milan on the other hand will try to salvage the generally bad impression with some solid performances in the upcoming games, they will surely push for the win in order to get back into the top 5.
However, Cagliari has been playing some excellent football in 2013, especially at home, so since there is no pressure on them I expect the Sardinians to take chances and make some damage in a shaky Inter defense.
There are a lot of premises to see goals in this clash and betting on goals at Cagliari’s home games has been profitable recently, so I’ll go for over 2.5 once again.
