Match Preview :
Things can get pretty heated when Newcastle and Sunderland clash in the Tyne-Wear derby on Super Sunday. Newcastle has a five point lead and sits in 13th spot while Sunderland in 17th spot with 31 points.
Paolo Di Canio's first match in charge saw his team go down 2-1 to Chelsea and then he immediately hit out at the fitness level of his players. The defeat left them just outside of the relegation zone, separated just by goal difference.
But the Black Cats are now without a win in nine matches and have seen sides below them such as Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa find form in recent weeks, but a win in this match could actually provide them the points needed to stay up.
When both sides met earlier this season nothing could separate them as it ended in a draw. In that match, Demba Ba's late own goal rescued a 1-1 draw for Sunderland after Yohan Cabaye had opened the scoring for Newcastle.
Newcastle in midweek managed to only draw against Benfica but the deficit was too much for them as they were knocked out of the Europa League.
