Both these sides will want to register a win when they clash at the Stadio Marc' Antenio Bentegodi. Chievo have had to endured difficult games against the likes of Lazio, Juventus and Inter saw them failed to collect any points and other then a draw with Palermo they also had defeats to Sampdoria and Fiorentina.
Last weekend Chievo lost to Fiorentina 2-1, but they were unhappy as they felt the offside call went against them in a performance that as Eugenio Corini felt they had given their all and were in right spirits.
But in fairness, Fiorentina had the right tempo of play throughout the match and dismantled Chievo's defence. Chievo's run of five games without a win has drawn many to question their defence. Furthermore, the team has also failed to score goals, with Corini seen as not getting his selection right between the inconsistent Mamadou Samassa, the fitness-bereft Adrian Stoian, the increasingly jaded Alberto Paloschi, and Sergio Pellissier who has often been on the bench.
And Chievo will not be pleased to face Napoli - the team who in their last two meetings (although both at the San Paolo) have kept them from scoring.
Napoli go into this match with the distinction of having the second best defensive record and second most clean sheets so far this term. They are second best to Juventus in Serie A and have now managed four consecutive draws - failing to converting it into wins. Walter Mazzarri’s side have failed to take advantage of the slip up by Juventus, but fall further behind in the standings when they could only managed draws.
Last week's draw with Juventus at least ended a run whereby they managed to get on the scoresheets. Mazzarri was adamant that they should have deserved all three points against Juventus. And, with Juve now taking the head-to-head record, their lead over them effective means they are seven points behind in the standings.
Napoli must start winning matches fast with just 11 more games to go before the season comes to an end. With 53 points on the table, it is worth to note that no has ever won Serie A with fewer than 82 points since it switched to 38 games a season. And for Napoli to have any chance of winning the Scudetto, they need to win at least 9 out of their 11 matches left!
