MK DONS
Mid-table MK Dons take on League One leaders Doncaster Rovers at their stadium:mk on Tuesday night with the visitors looking for a third successive league win that would open the gap on second placed Sheffield United to four points.
Doncaster Rovers could well achieve a third successive win as hosts MK Dons have failed to win a league match in their last eight attempts which includes five draws and three defeats; draws against Bury, Doncaster Rovers (in the corresponding away match), Carlisle United, Portsmouth and Preston NE along with losses against Yeovil Town, Bournemouth and Oldham Athletic.
Focusing now on their home form, MK Dons have not won on home their home ground for five matches now having suffered defeats to Walsall 2-4, Coventry City 2-3 and Bournemouth 0-3 and have managed just solitary points against relegation-threatened Bury and Preston NE.
MK Dons’ home form stands at 8-4-4 23/17 but these stats could have been a lot better as they reflect on what has been a very disappointing campaign for them as they are usually in the mix for at least a play-off place at this stage of the season.
DONCASTER ROVERS
The League One leading position has once again changed hands with Doncaster Rovers snatching top place off rivals Sheffield United and they will be looking to cement their position at the top with at least a point at MK Dons on Tuesday night.
Doncaster will be confident of taking more than a point though as they currently possess the best away record in the division and are unbeaten in their last five matches overall. Rovers’ away record stands at 11-4-2 28/13 with only second placed Sheffield United boasting a meaner defensive record on the road having conceded just 12 goals all season away from home.
With just one defeat from their last fifteen away matches, Doncaster go into this match full of confidence having an away record of 7-1-1 against teams in the lower half of the table, and particularly given the fact that MK Dons seemingly have little to play for being thirteen points adrift of the play-off pack and eleven points ahead of the bottom three relegation places.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
Doncaster Rovers can take a big step closer to automatic promotion if they take all three points at The Dons tonight and even if it ends in another stalemate at stadium:mk, take the quarter ball that’s on offer for Rovers at still a good price. Doncaster could nick this 2-1 perhaps.
The Pick :
MK Dons 1 Doncaster Rovers 2
