Pescara (18th W6 D3 L15)
Coach Cristiano Bergodi’s spell at Pescara is close to a premature end, president Daniele Sebastini hinted that former coach Zdenek Zeman would be an ideal replacement if results won’t improve.
Zeman was sacked by AS Roma, but he is held at high regard in Pescara since the Czech tactician was the one who guided the club back into Serie A.
Pescara came close to what would have been an important victory when they took the lead thanks to a 73rd minute goal from Bjarnason in Palermo, but they were not able to hold on to it and the home side get back into the game only 7 minutes later in a match that ended in a draw.
It was still a good result for Pescara, they’ve managed to end a four games losing streak and will now be looking for their first victory since the 6th of January.
Cagliari (16th W6 D7 L11)
Cagliari managed to hold AC Milan to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Is Arenas in a match that the hosts controlled up until the end when Milan were given a penalty converted by Balotelli.
Ivo Pulga’s side should be frustrated with the outcome of that match, they’ve made Milan look like a mediocre side for most part of the game, Milan actually needed more than an hour to take a shot on goal.
Cagliari managed extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to five games, but they’ll have to face Pescara without midfielders Daniele Dessena and Daniele Conti, and defender Davide Astori who are all suspended.
The Betting Verdict
The 40 point mark (which theoretically is enough to avoid relegation) seems far away at this moment for Pescara, they only have 14 rounds left to gain 19 points which seems like an impossible mission for a side that collected an average of 0.87 points per round.
They’ll have to start by winning their home games against sides from the second half of the table, like Cagliari, but beating a side that collected four points in their last two games against AS Roma and Milan seems unlikely.
Pescara will have to take chances and that’s exactly what Cagliari will be looking to exploit, they are one of the most effective counter attacking sides from the league, so I expect them to score at least once against Pescara’s poor defense.
Delfini should be good for a goal as well, they’ve scored two goals in three of their last four home games and Bergodi will once again field an offensive 4-3-3 formation with Weiss, Celik and Caraglio in front.
