Genoa picked up a point last weekend at Parma in a match that could have gone their way if one of Bertolacci’s second half shots would have found the net instead of hitting the woodwork.
Avoiding the defeat on the road in Serie A and especially at Parma is always a positive result though, so Genoa should be high on confidence ahead of this game.
Genoa is actually undefeated in three games starting with the surprising draw in Torino against leaders Juventus, continued by a superb win over Lazio at home before the goalless draw against Parma.
Andreas Granqvist managed to recover from a minor injury and he’s fit to take his place in Genoa defense and so is striker Boriello who’s presence was in doubt.
Udinese (7th W9 D9 L6)
This is not a memorable season for Francesco Guidolin’s side, but Udinese is still there fighting for the European spots, but a top 5 finish at the end of the season seems beyond their reach at the moment.
Unlike previous years Udinese was not able to provide surprises in big games against Italy’s giants, they’ve only picked up three points in six games against the top four sides from the Serie A table, a home victory against AC Milan.
Udinese recently lost on their travels to Milano (AC Milan) and Torino (Juventus), so they are probably looking at this game against Genoa as an opportunity to improve their away record.
Giampiero Pinzi and Danilor are the most notable absences for this game, but the attacking duo Di Natale and Muriel is ready to make some damage in Genoa’s defense, the two scored a total of 14 goals this season.

This fixture proved to be full of events during the previous years, the last three games when Genoa hosted Udinese provided a total of 14 goals.
I expect Udinese to score here, Genoa’s defense cannot be characterized as tight, they’ve only kept a clean sheet in one of their last 11 home games in Serie A, so Di Natale and Muriel will surely have their chances here.
Despite their poor defending at times, Genoa improved a lot on their offensive game, they’ve actually scored two or more goals in five of their last eight home games, so they should be good for at least a goal here against Udinese.
