Silly boy Ibrahimov got himself sent off but the rest of the team performed exactly as expected and came away from Valencia with a 2-1 lead that has them as overwhelming favourites to progress to the Champions League QF. But first they must negotiate Sochaux, a team they have already beaten 2-0 in the reverse earlier this season.
PSG have actually won the last 4 meetings with Sochaux, conceding just 2 goals and scoring 11! The game before last they walloped Sochaux 6-1 and on their last trip here won to nil - 1-0.
Since knocking Montpellier out of the cup 3-2, this Sochaux side has failed to win through 3 games. Montpellier immediately gained revenge with a 2-0 win, after which Sochaux were beaten at home 2-1 by Saint-Etienne. Their last game was a draw at Troyes, but the fact they could not score is a concern.
PSG have bullied them in recent meetings, not just by scoring but by shutting them down completely. 2 goals in 4 games is a dire return, and I feel it will continue against a PSG side that boast the best defence in Ligue 1, conceding just 13 through 24 games.
To make it worse, PSG are the most prolific scorers too, netting 45 times, 6 more than the next best team, Lyon. They have a fantastic away record too, winning 7 games and losing just once. I don't see how they could possibly drop points here against a side sitting in the relegation zone.
THE BETTING VERDICT
I'll go with PSG to win this one, and shall take them to be leading at HT too, which gives us a nice return.
