PREVIEW
Dallas dealt us a loss by scoring 3 in Colorado to beat the Avalanche, having only scored 4 combined through their previous 6 road games. With the Oilers struggling to score goals, perhaps it's an idea to get on board with the Stars to win a 2nd straight road game.
The h2h is the most glaring reason to go against Edmonton, despite them being home. They lost all 4 meetings with Dallas last season, and have dropped 9 of the last 10 meetings! Dallas had a tough loss against the Coyotes, being blanked 2-0, but bounced back to win impressively in Colorado, going 2-0 up and getting it done 3-2. They are 4-5-1 for the season but this could be their 3rd win in 4 games tonight.
Hopefully, Jamie Benn can keep it going, after scoring twice against the Avalanche. He and his offence face an Edmonton defence that has a 2.75GAA at home and a 2-1-1 mark. Overall, the Oilers are 4-3-2.
The Oilers lost on Monday in OT against the Vancouver Cunucks and are now on a 3 game losing skid. They also lost captain Horcoff, who was only back after a 2 game absence from a neck injury, but broke his knuckle and is now out for the next month. Those 2 are tough breaks, losing a key player and the game in OT. Hard to get "up" for the next game.
The Oilers are going to be facing Lehtonen, who will get the start between the pipes for the Stars, and it's encouraging that he has a 7-2-0 record over his career against Edmonton, letting in 2 goals on average.
BETTING VERDICT
Dallas are not just dominant in h2h, they've done it here in Edmonton, winning on 4 of the last 5 trips, so home ice is making no difference for the Oilers.
I can't imagine Edmonton scoring more than 2 goals, while that offensive breakout at Colorado may just continue here for Dallas, who will be confident as they know they have Edmontons number.
