Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers took the lead at Watford last weekend only to lose (2-1). The defeat leaves them down in 20th place with a 3 point lead above the drop zone.
Freedman's side haven't won in 4 league games and have just the single win in a span of 7 games. This teams has avoided defeat in 2 of the last 4 but wins are very hard to come by and as a result the draws have dragged them to the foot of the table.
At home Bolton are unbeaten in 2 games but have lost 2 of the last 5 at the Reebok. Despite looking close I can't see Bolton going down but their home form is alarming and they must pick this up in the last third of the season.
It's 3 home games since their last clean sheet and 5 of the lat 6 visitors have scored here. A positive is that no visiting team has scored more than 1 in the last 4 games and Bolton has scored 6 goals in that same run. It looks as though this team needs 2 goals or more to win any game at the moment and that's not easy in this division.
Burnley
Burnley drew 2-2 at Posh at the weekend in a game that they would have targeted 3 points for. The point keeps them in the playoff hunt in 7th 4 points off Boro in 6th.
Dyche's side have taken 1 point from the last 6 to really hurt them in their top 6 quest. The drop in form follows an excellent run of 4 wins from the last 5 with a single defeat in 7 league games.
Away from home the form is much better. Burnley are unbeaten in 4 games losing once in the last 7. With this being a derby game and Bolton needing a win as well, Burnley should cause some damage on the counter in what looks an open game.
Goals have come easily for Burnley having scored in 7 of their last 8 away games. The side is currently on a run of scoring 2 goals a game on their travels (4 and counting). At the other end in the lat 5 away games the hosts have scored either 2 goals (3 occasions) or Burnley has kept a clean sheet (2 occasions).
Betting Verdict
I have no idea why struggling Bolton are the favourites to win this game. The team struggled before with Coyle and now with Freedman as 0 wins in 4 and just 1 win in 7 testifies.
The visitors are right up there in the playoff mix and won't fear Bolton having beaten them on opening day. 4 games unbeaten on the road with 1 loss in 7 is excellent so I have to take Burnley not to lose this game.
I wanted a little more for this bet but I can only see it coming in once the Internationals pass. Overs is tempting given both look certain to score and Burnley are scoring 2 a time at the moment but with our bet a 1-1 draw pays out which overs doesn't.
