2013-02-06 - Wales vs Austria
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Match Preview :
Wales are on a mission to restore their battered pride as they welcome Austria to the Liberty Stadium tonight for this friendly match. Chris Coleman has not had it easy as manager of the Wales national team as he has suffered six defeats in seven games taking charge of the side.
Three of those defeats have come in World Cup qualifiers, leaving Wales seven points off the pace in the battle to secure a top-two finish in Group A. And at the moment their hopes of qualifying seems to be slipping away from them but a midweek meeting with Austria offers them a chance to get back on track before competitive action resumes in March.
On the other hand, Austria have also not made a good start to their World Cup bid either, with three fixtures bringing in just four points. Austria are alongside the likes of Republic of Ireland, Sweden and Germany in Group C, so they have it all to do if they are to reach Brazil 2014. They will arrive to Swansea hoping to claim a win which could boost their confidence.
Team News :
Wales Team News :
Uncapped Bristol City defender James Wilson could make his Wales debut tonight. Wilson, 23, was called up by Coleman on Tuesday following the withdrawal from the squad of Huddersfield defender Joel Lynch.
Goalkeeper Jason Brown, a free agent after leaving Aberdeen, replaces Lewis Price, who has pulled out for family reasons. Craig Bellamy is expected to start up front after returning from a lengthy international absence, while midfielder Jack Collison is also back in the side.
However the likes of Steve Morison, James Collins and Neil Taylor are all out of this match along with goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.
Austria Team News :
For Austria, West Ham new-boy Emanuel Pogatetz and Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann could both be in the starting lineup.
