Reading continue to fight and it's paying rewards for them. Their effort late in the games is bringing them precious goals that are earning them much needed points as they fight for survival and they are now on a fabulous run of 5 games without defeat in all competition, winning all but 1!

Having lost 3-1 at Spurs, Reading won 3-1 at Crawley Town in the Cup and then produced quite the comeback at West Brom, where they hit 3 unanswered goals in the last 8 minutes to win 3-2! Buoyed by that results, they then went at won 2-1 at Newcastle and followed that up with another FA Cup win, 4-0 against Sheffield United! In midweek, their fighting spirit did not abate, and they turned a 2-0 deficit against Chelsea into a 2-2 draw with 2 late Le Fondre goals!

Sunderland are 11th, sitting 9 points ahead of Reading, who are just outside the relegation zone as things stand. Sunderland looked pretty terrible in drawing 0-0 at Swansea, hardly creating anything. That followed a 3-2 win at Wigan where the defence looked more than shaky. Sunderland played 2 games recently with lower league Bolton and ended up unable to progress in the FA Cup, held 2-2 away before losing 2-0 at home. That's 4 goals conceded against a poorer offence than Reading, who have shown they can plunder goals if you give them any chance.

Arsenal conceded 5 goals here and then another 2 in their 2 visits, and while Reading have been doing well by scoring goals, I don't still trust their defence, which continues to fail to keep clean sheets most games. They have scored 30 league goals, more than Sunderland, but have allowed a whopping 45 this season too!

BETTING VERDICT

I fancy Reading to win, but I think the stats are glaring. Reading will go for the win, and I think it's a game they will both score and concede in.

We could well end up with 4 or 5 goals, but I think we can feel safe with a put on the Over.
