It hasn't been the best of times for Rotherham United playing in front of their own fans and the poor run of results here has seen them drop off the pace for one of the automatic promotion spots. However, they haven't done any terminal damage just yet and need to get back to winning ways and moving back up the right way in the League.
They have dropped out of the Play Off places in recent games and are currently 9th in the League Two table, something that isn't considered good enough for a side that was favoured to end the season as Champions last August. Northampton Town
Northampton Town missed the chance to consolidate their place in the automatic promotion positions and actually dropped out of those places thanks to a 2-0 loss at Gillingham last time out. They have been, like many other teams, a little inconsistent when trying to get separation in the third automatic promotion spot and this represents a big game for them.
The defeat at Gillingham as well as Burton Albion drawing at Oxford means Northampton moved down to 4th place in the League Two table, although only 1 point behind Burton in the final automatic promotion place. Northampton have a 3-4-7 record away from home this season, scoring 16 goals and conceding 26 in those games.
Northampton were beaten at Gillingham which stopped a run of 5 wins in 6 games for them in the League, although that run has pushed them towards the top of the table. However, they have struggled for consistency away from home and have only won 1 of their last 5 away games in the League, losing 3 of those including the latest loss at Gillingham.
Head to Head
Northampton Town scored a late goal to beat Rotherham United 2-1 at home earlier this season.
It took another late goal for Northampton to draw 1-1 here last season and that means Rotherham have won 1 of their last 5 at home against them, with the last 2 ending in draws.
Prediction
Both of these sides have struggled in their home and away games respectively and that could lead to a nervy encounter on Saturday as the importance of the game takes over.
However, both sides have particularly struggled defensively in their respective games and so the chances of seeing goals makes the 1.80 on offer for over 2.5 goals look a decent price.
Both sides look capable of scoring one goal and Rotherham United have yet to draw a home game in the League this season so I will hope that continues here.
