West Ham United
West Ham United were beaten at Fulham midweek in a 3-1 loss to leave them occupying 13th. The Londoners are 7 clear of the drop zone so the reality is they are not in any immediate danger and there won't be pressure on them ahead of this game.
The Hammers have lost 3 of their last 4 and 5 of the last 7. Finding a win is a struggle at the moment with just 1 victory in 9 league games. Fortunately those below them are struggling even more and for the time being this side is comfortably in mid table.
At home West Ham are unbeaten in 2 games picking up 4 points along the way. Everton (1-2) and Liverpool (2-3) recently won here in back to back games but Sam has steadied the ship so to speak and Upton Park isn't an easy place to visit.
9 of the last 10 West Ham games have seen both sides scoring which makes for entertaining matches. Defensively this team isn't great but going forward they are always good for a goal here netting in 11 of their last 12 home games.
Swansea City
Swansea City drew at Sunderland (0-0) midweek which is a decent point for them. The draw keeps them in the top half (8th) of the table and the Champions League places are a not too distant 8 points away.
Laudrup's side are unbeaten in 7 league games which is excellent given their cup commitments. This is a tough team to beat with 2 defeats in 15 but their problem is draws, currently 5 in the last 7.
Away from home Swansea are unbeaten in 4 games, once again drawing many on the way (3). Tottenham (1-0) is the only side to beat them in 8 which is excellent and they clearly will fancy their chances at the weekend.
4 blanks in the last 5 away games is a concern. Despite failing to score so often the defence has kept them in it with 3 0-0 scorelines. 2 goals conceded in 6 away games is a sensational stat but this defence will be tested against a goal happy West Ham side.
Betting Verdict
West Ham go off favourites to win this game at odds against and out of the 2 I prefer them to the Swans. West Ham have played fewer matches in recent weeks due to cup exits and also played virtually at home in their last game (at Fulham also in London).
Swansea have faced a lot of good sides in various league and cup games which must start to have an effect on their legs. An away trip to Sunderland from Wales and now back down to London isn't great for them.
I'm going to back West Ham on the asian line as I respect the incredible Swansea away form. Not many are able to beat them so I want the draw on side in this one. West Ham score and concede goals at home and if they are chasing the game it's a worry, however I'm happy to lay Swansea as I expect them to start suffering as the games start to pile up.
Good Luck
