BETTING PREVIEW
It pains me to say it, but Tottenham are doing bloody well at the moment. Spurs are up in 4th in the Premier League, having gone on a fabulous unbeaten run with plenty of wins away from home. They were held by QPR but then fought back brilliantly at the Lane to hold Manchester United 1-1 in a game they could have perhaps even won.
Tottenham have not faced Leeds in 3 years, when they drew here 2-2 in the FA Cup before winning 3-1 in the replay, when Defoe scored a hat-trick. Leeds have not beaten Tottenham since 2001.
Spurs unbeaten run is now 8 games, and they have won 5 of those, with 2 of the 3 draws coming in the last 2 matches. In the FA Cup, Spurs have done really well defensively, keeping clean sheets in 3 of the last 4 played away from home (although they have failed to score in 3 of 4 too!) Leeds are always a danger to score, as they did when they netted against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup, although then then conceded 5 and were knocked out. In the FA Cup, Leeds have a big scalp this season, having knocked out Everton. However, they have a north London hoodoo about them, as the last 3 years have seen them knocked out by Arsenal (2011 and 2012) and Tottenham (2010)!
What Leeds will draw confidence from is their home form. At Elland Road, Leeds have lost just 1 of their last 8 games, winning 6. The loss was that 5-1 result against Chelsea. Their last 3 home games have seen them beat Bolton and Bristol City 1-0 each, while playing out a 1-1 draw with Birmingham, meaning they are a good bet to score at home.
THE BETTING VERDICT
I think Tottenham are going to win this, but I think Both Teams To Score looks as solid bet. Both are priced around the 1.70 mark but if we combine the two we get a pretty good return.
The Pick :
Leeds 1-2 Tottenham
