Brisbane Roar (8th)
The Roar are 1 point off the bottom of the table, and much more was expected this season of the reigning champions than what has been on display so far.
Worse still there were stories of a rift between some players and the coaching staff this week. There is just a hint of a club in turmoil here.
Besart Berisha has scored 8 goals this season, he often gets into good scoring positions but needs to convert them more often for Brisbane to have any chance of getting into the top six places.
The Roar have sold Paartalu to the Chinese Super League and picked up former Socceroo Jade North(31) who is expected to slot into the defence for this game.
If the Roar do not win this match, and that is a real possibility, then it looks like the Roar will not be defending their title in the semi-finals in 11 games time.
Western Sydney Wanderers (3rd)
The Wanderers are the form team of the league at the moment, they have picked up 16 points out of a possible 21 in their last seven games.
Despite only scoring on average 1 goal an away game, they have a very good away record, and this is down to the fact they have only conceded 3 goals away from home!!
The defensive pairing of Beauchamp and Topor-Stanley should be able to deal with all the threats that the Roar’s strikers might pose.
Midfielder Jason Trifiro returns from suspension, so coach Popovic’s only worry is who does he starts with.
The Wanderers like to soak up the pressure and counter on the break, and this is exactly the type of game that will unfold on Sunday.
The Betting Verdict
Goals will be at a premium, so Under 2.5 goals at $1.80 is fair.
I think the Roar are not mentally in the right place at the moment, and the Wanderers will exploit that, possibly coming away with all 3 points.
The Pick :
Brisbane Roar 0 - 1 West Sydney Wanderers
