BETTING PREVIEW
AC Milan are hardly challenging for the title, as they are 14 points behind leaders Juventus. In fact, Milan are 7th, with Parma just a point behind. They need this game but it is going to be a tough battle.
AC Milan are just off a loss to Juventus in the Coppa Italia, beaten 2-1 in ET. But just days before that loss, Juventus were beaten 2-1, at home no less, by this very Sampdoria side. No fluke either. Earlier this season, Sampdoria went to the San Siro and came away with a 1-0 win, so we know they can beat this Milan side too.
The odds of a little over even money on AC Milan are terrible value, based on their reputation, which I'm afraid they have not lived up to this year. Not even close. Sure, they might win this, but the price is bad value, so it should not be touched.
I think we have to find a way to back Sampdoria performing, especially at home where you know they will be "up" for a big performance because of who they're playing. Indeed, their last 3 home games against AC Milan have seen them pick up 2 wins and a draw. The games happened a few years ago, but it drives my point home about them upping their game. And this year their game is pretty pretty good anyway.
AC Milan's offence might find a way to get it done, but as I outlined in my Juventus v AC Milan preview, this Milan team is not one to bet on to keep a clean sheet.
