2012-12-21 - Blackpool vs Wolverhampton Wander
A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps
Football : England : Championship
Friday 21st December - Kickoff 7:45pm
Blackpool
Blackpool beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at home last weekend to move up into 11th place. With 32 points Blackpool are just 4 off the playoffs and another home win on Friday sets them up excellently for the Xmas run of games.
Appleton's side have won 2 of the last 3 games but are on an excellent unbeaten run of 8 games. The run has seen them launch up the table but once again to keep up the pace they need a result against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
At home their win over Rovers was the first in 7 games but remarkably Blackpool are 6 unbeaten at home now. A problem has been keeping sides out as the 2-0 win on Saturday was their first in 8 home games.
Attacking wise Blackpool have scored in 24 of the last 25 home games. More often than not they score 2 at Bloomfield Road having done so in 4 of the last 6. If they do so on Friday it's tough to see them losing the game given Wolves's lack of goals in recent weeks.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolverhampton Wanderers lost at the weekend (2-0) against a strong Middlesbrough side. The loss means they sit back in 18th place and only 8 points off the playoffs despite the 12 league position difference.
Solbakken's side were on a 2 game winning run prior to their loss on Saturday. The 2 game winning run proceeded a 9 game run where the side failed to register a single win and it's because of this run they find themselves so far down the table.
Away from home the side has struggled winning 1 of the last 6 in the league. That win came at Bristol City (1-4) but having lost the other 5 by an aggregate of 10-3 it's clear that they have problems at both ends of the table.
In all their losses the hosts have scored 2 goals which is a concern. At the other end, Wolves failed to score in 2 of the 5 games but on only 1 of the last 3 which is encouraging.
Betting Verdict
Blackpool are the favourites to win this game and at over even money I can see appeal in that price. Wolverhampton have lost 5 of the last 6 away from home and were always second best at Boro midweek. Blackpool just don't lose at home and enter this game unbeaten in 6 on their own patch and must fancy their chances.
In all of the visitors recent defeats they have conceded 2 goals as noted above. Blackpool have scored 2 or more at home in 4 of the last 6 so this looks very promising to hit once again on Friday.
The home win is 2.20 but over 1.50 goals is odds on. For me this doesn't make sense, Wolves have scored 2 or more 3 times in 11 away games this season. Therefore 2 home goals for Blackpool should be enough for the win and given the odds and the stats I'm happy to back the Tangerines in Friday's game.
Good Luck
The Pick :
Blackpool 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
