Brighton
Brighton drew 0-0 with promotion candidates Forest at the weekend to leave them in 8th place with 33 points. The side trails Millwall in 6th by 3 points and a home win midweek would be huge in their promotion push as we enter the Xmas fixtures.
Poyet's side are unbeaten in 2 league games but haven't won either. Their last win is 3 games ago but fortunately for them given how tight this league is they haven't fallen off the pace.
At home Brighton are unbeaten in 5 games with a sequence reading D-W-D-W-D. Peterborough (1-0) and Bristol City (2-0) were beaten but Leeds (2-2), Bolton (1-1) and Forest (0-0) have held them.
Interestingly it's the 3 later sides that will be there or there abouts have caused them the most problems. The 2 wins have come over 2 likely relegation sides and Brighton needs to get winning against the league's stronger sides especially when at home.
Millwall
Millwall won a massive game against Leicester (1-0) at the weekend to send them back into the playoff places. Millwall occupy the final place with 36 points but with 3 points covering 5 places they can't afford to lose here on Tuesday.
Jackett's side were winless in 2 before Saturday's win. But the win is huge, as mentioned above they are now in 6th and trail Leicester in 5th by just a point.
Away from home the side lost at Ipswich (3-0) lat time out but that defeat ended an excellent 8 game unbeaten run. Having just beaten one of the league's strongest sides, granted it was at home I can't see them fearing a trip to Brighton on Tuesday.
Before the loss to Ipswich they kept 3 straight away clean sheets which is excellent. There is also a lot of scoring potential here with Millwall scoring 2 or more in 4 of their last 8 away. If they get 2 that should be enough for the win but this game looks set to be a really close one with few goals.
Betting Verdict
Brighton are the favourites to win this game at odds against which doesn't appeal to me. Poyet's side are very strong at home and don't lose here but Millwall have lost just 1 in 8 on the road and they had a big win at the weekend.
I'm taking under 2.50 goals as my bet here. Both played at the weekend and the games come thick and fast now so I'm expecting goals harder to come by.
The last 4 Brighton home games have been under 2.50 with 7 of the last 8 also hitting for the hosts. The visitors have been excellent keeping clean sheets in 3 of the last 4 away from home. Of their away games 3 of the last 4 have been unders and given it's 2 good sides at the top of league I don't see a lot of goals.
Good Luck
The Pick :
Brighton 1-1 Millwall
